STF School Education Program visits

Sea Turtle Foundation Inspires Young Conservationists in May 2025

In May 2025, the Sea Turtle Foundation proudly delivered its School Education Program to enthusiastic Year 4 students at Cranbrook State School and Bohlevale State School. The initiative is aimed at educating and inspiring young minds about the critical role sea turtles play in keeping our oceans and our planet healthy. Students participated in an engaging and interactive workshop designed to deepen their understanding of sea turtles, their fragile populations, and the many challenges they face, including pollution, climate change, and coastal development. Through information and hands-on activities, students learned how their everyday actions can have a lasting impact on sea turtle conservation.

Following the workshop, students took part in a group activity where they brainstormed real-life solutions to the threats facing sea turtles. From reducing plastic waste and advocating for sustainable choices to educating their communities, the ideas shared by the students reflected their creativity and deepening commitment to protecting marine life. Each group proudly presented their solutions to the class, sparking further discussions and inspiring one another to take action. “Both staff and students really enjoyed the activities,” said Trish Stark, reflecting on the program’s success and the positive energy it brought to the classrooms. The students left the sessions not only informed but empowered, ready to spread their new knowledge with friends and family. Every participant became a proud Sea Turtle Champion, carrying forward the mission of ocean conservation.

A heartfelt thank you to the Big Blue Ocean Foundation for funding the School Education Program, and also to our amazing volunteers Aquila Fisher and Sarah Hodgson for your dedication in making these school visits such a success.

The Sea Turtle Foundation looks forward to continuing this important work and fostering the next generation of young conservationists!
